Story

What started out as a surprise 2-acre sunflower field tucked away at the top of the first hill here on the farm, turned into an 8-acre sunflower experience open to the public for u-pick and more! 

I'll never forget it, with our 3rd babe still on my hip and neck deep in life, Tim asked me to go for a walk up the hill behind our house in August 2021. What awaited was, even then, a sight to behold. Cresting the first ridge, we stopped at the edge of a 2-acre sea of light green plants. Looking down the first row was one with a bright yellow head about to erupt. Tim proclaimed, "These are all sunflowers!" And my eyes had never gotten so big. 

(Every time we would drive by a sunflower field, I would insist on pulling over to marvel in those big sunny faces. Now, here I was face to face with my very own sunflower patch!)

As the sunflowers began to pop open, I couldn't help but want to open up the fields for the public to enjoy. After all, we ALL needed a little joy that summer. So that's what we did. There were just 2 weekends that first year and everything grew from there.

Our family of 6 is all involved in the season. From prepping the fields, to hand planting, harvesting, building arrangements, working the stand, bagging flowers, and anything else mom and dad suggest (Like spray painting chairs, or painting an 8 foot one!) we have the best helpers and team to live out this dream of bringing the joy of these fields to you.

We are now in our 5th year anniversary of expanding, to now, 8-acres or so of sunny hills. (Fun fact - my family used to own a farm called Sunny Hillside Farm!) We have since added more cut flower rows, flower classes, scavenger hunts, and events here on the farm.
